Weekly photo challenge: Masterpiece

The theme of this week’s challenge made me think of one of the funny things my daughter said when she was little. We visited the Tate Art Gallery in Liverpool when she was about 5. One very precious famous painting was surrounded by a roped barrier to stop visitors getting too close. “Is that one still wet?” was my daughter’s question.

I’ve just returned from a trip around the Red Sea, visiting Jordan and Egypt. The highlight of the journey was a day spent in the ancient city of Petra and this photograph hints at the stunning colour and texture of the beautiful rock formations. I’m sure I’ll be posting more photographs from my trip over the next week or so.

I normally have a little gripe now and again that they don’t make buildings like they used to.  I love the beauty, grandeur and robustness of the Three Graces in Liverpool and I was sceptical about the new modern buildings that have been built around these 3 icons. However, I have grown to love the angles and lines of the new additions, especially the Museum of Liverpool and the Beatles Museum.  So for my Future Tense, I’m moving with the times, accepting the new architecture  and admiring how the new blends with the old. It remains to be seen if the new buildings will be iconic in a couple of hundred years.  I’d put a bet on that the Three Graces will still be there standing strong!
