Weekly photo challenge: Colour

Color

I’ve just returned from a trip around the Red Sea, visiting Jordan and Egypt. The highlight of the journey was a day spent in the ancient city of Petra and this photograph hints at the stunning colour and texture of the beautiful rock formations. I’m sure I’ll be posting more photographs from my trip over the next week or so.

Wild

The island is taking a battering today with rough seas, cancelled ferries, snow grinding most of the island’s roads to a halt and power cuts.  Luckily for us in Laxey at sea level, we don’t have any snow that’s sticking yet or any power cuts like other parts of the island but disruption does mean a postponed celebration party with friends for tonight. Hopefully, things will calm down before my daughter returns to the island from university on the mainland on Monday or the ferry will be either cancelled or a very unpleasant crossing. Weekly photo challenge: Future Tense

I normally have a little gripe now and again that they don’t make buildings like they used to.  I love the beauty, grandeur and robustness of the Three Graces in Liverpool and I was sceptical about the new modern buildings that have been built around these 3 icons. However, I have grown to love the angles and lines of the new additions, especially the Museum of Liverpool and the Beatles Museum.  So for my Future Tense, I’m moving with the times, accepting the new architecture  and admiring how the new blends with the old. It remains to be seen if the new buildings will be iconic in a couple of hundred years.  I’d put a bet on that the Three Graces will still be there standing strong!

Scary

It was fun experimenting in different locations with the thick mist.  This is Lonan Church (photographs taken yesterday) which is the “new” Lonan Church, built in 1834.  The old Lonan Church (St Adamnan’s, which I’ve posted about previously) dates back to the 14th century.

These are the last of the misty photographs for now as I think I’ll move onto something more upbeat (elements permitting!).

The last 2 photographs are of the old Church (taken Feb 2013).
