A stay of execution

Save the phone box

Happy New Year!

The Laxey red telephone box could be granted a last-minute reprieve from being removed from the village.

A sign was placed in the phone box in December advising that it would be removed, along with a few others dotted around the island. The boxes could remain if the Local Authorities step in to pay for ongoing maintenance.

For now, the Laxey phone box remains in situ but its future is under consideration.

Watch this space!  Er, I don’t mean an empty space where the box is. It won’t be the same without this part of our heritage. Please save it!

Coastal race

Whilst I was on the Laxey coastal path today there was a yacht race under-way from Douglas Yacht Club. It would be a shame not to post some of the photographs even though visibility and light wasn’t great today. It looked quite tricky out on the open water and I couldn’t believe how close the yachts get to each other.

It’s the Tower Insurance Autumn Series 2013

Lemon and lime light

I  wandered through Laxey Glen today. A wonderful crunch underfoot and beautiful colours. When autumn arrives, I always think it’s my favourite season, but then I say that about the other three, even winter after last year’s long and harsh slog. If you’re reading this from somewhere that has really, really harsh winters, I apologise as I know we’re drama queens over here!
