I’ve not been in Laxey to witness the dramatic storms in January but I was here on Christmas Eve when it started to turn rough, albeit with a touch of sunshine that day.

A stay of execution
Happy New Year!
The Laxey red telephone box could be granted a last-minute reprieve from being removed from the village.
A sign was placed in the phone box in December advising that it would be removed, along with a few others dotted around the island. The boxes could remain if the Local Authorities step in to pay for ongoing maintenance.
For now, the Laxey phone box remains in situ but its future is under consideration.
Watch this space! Er, I don’t mean an empty space where the box is. It won’t be the same without this part of our heritage. Please save it!
Weekly photo challenge: Unexpected
Unexpectedly, sort of cute.
Emus in the Australian Outback at Curragh’s Wildlife Park.
Normally, I run the gauntlet through this section of the park as the emus roaming free can be intimidating but on this day, they seemed quite chilled.

Coastal race
Whilst I was on the Laxey coastal path today there was a yacht race under-way from Douglas Yacht Club. It would be a shame not to post some of the photographs even though visibility and light wasn’t great today. It looked quite tricky out on the open water and I couldn’t believe how close the yachts get to each other.
It’s the Tower Insurance Autumn Series 2013
