Yesterday’s sunrise was unusual as it started with ugly little black clouds that absorbed the redness of the sun. Once the sun had started to rise, the fire cooled down and the sky became cool and subdued. Half moon still out and visible and greater visibility than on an average day as I could see the Cumbrian hills on the UK mainland (my true home land). It all lasted about an hour finishing with a colourless sky in the final photographs. Click on the gallery and join me as I walk along the beach!

This morning’s sunrise was very similar to one I photographed in October. It was really good to actually see some sun today.
Kouloura in Corfu
A good 20 minute walk from Kalami brings you to Kouloura. A delightful little fishing village with quiet beaches, stunning views overlooking Albania and delicious authentic Greek food served at the friendly Taverna Kouloura.
Agni in Corfu
Booking a table for dinner at the lovely Taverna Agni, allowed us a free return boat trip from Kalami to Agni. The food, atmosphere and scenery was stunning. It was so beautiful that we walked here from Kalami one day and spent a few hours soaking up the atmosphere. Agni is apparently a favourite place for the rich and famous who arrive in their yachts and dine in the restaurants. I don’t normally go in for this kind of thing but Agni is so unspoilt and unpretentious.

This year, I hope to travel more which is one of my other passions. My passion for photography probably started whilst cruising into Venice along the Grand Canal at sunrise but having no camera to capture the sublime light over the ancient buildings and the beautiful landscape. Now I rarely leave the house without a camera.
Whilst thinking about the possibility of travelling this year, I thought I’d post some photographs of a couple of my favourite places that I’ve visited.
I’ve stayed in Kalami in Corfu twice. The first time in a lovely villa and the second time in what the locals call the Pink Palace, official name is The Adonis & Asonitis Apartments. Both trips were very enjoyable and I wasn’t disappointed as you sometimes can be when returning to a special place.
Thomas’s Taverna on the stunning Kalami beach is a favourite place to hang out. Traditional and authentic Greek food being a speciality together with the warmth and welcome from the locals. It’s unlikely that I’ll get back to Kalami this year but it’s on my list of top 5 places to return.
